Many years ago, before “One Day In Italy” ever existed and before I made a living giving travel advice and helping readers plan their dream vacations to Italy, I went to Rome for the first time. It was my first ever vacation, actually, and I didn’t know what to expect. More than the big questions of what to see or where to stay, I worried about the little things: how to read bus signs, where to find an ATM and would I be able to find my way through the airport?
The first post I looked at on Ron’s site was about arriving in Terminal 3 at FCO. He took pictures of EVERY sign or marker that could help you recognize where you are and lead you to where you need to go. He explained the signage in detail and even took a picture of the booth where you’d pick up your Roma Pass! After reading that post, I knew exactly what I was looking for once my flight landed. I had no doubt, and after 20 hours of traveling that is a luxury I wouldn’t’ve had without Ron’s post. (Access this particular post here: http://www.roninrome.com/transportation/fco-terminal-3-arrivals-area).
The second post I read was a step-by-step visual guide of how to purchase train tickets without having to worry about an Italian agent criticizing you for butchering their language – the automated machines. Now granted, these machines aren’t that difficult to operate, but when flustered or operating on no sleep I can appreciate being familiar with them ahead of time. In short, thank you, Ron! Before there was One Day In Italy, there was Ron in Rome!
