Die-happy-walter-scott-quote
One of my favorite places in Rome, especially at sunset, is atop the Passagiata del Pincio, overlooking the Roman skyline.  I used a photo I took there for two quotes over the last few years, one by Sir Walter Scott that extolls the glories of Rome and the other by Oprah Winfrey that talks about taking the chance to live the life of your dreams.  It’s funny that both of these quotes apply to this post.

I hadn’t been looking for a job in Rome, but one found me.  The blog has been fairly quiet for the past six weeks because I’ve been busy in the interview process and then the moving process, having been brought on board by the Communications and Private Sector Partnerships divisions of the United Nations’ World Food Programme.  I’m thrilled to be able to use the marketing skills I honed in the entertainment industry to now help WFP in their mission to relieve world hunger.

I arrived in Rome yesterday and started walking around, scoping out neighborhoods and realizing just how many businesses close for holidays in August.  Even the apartment rental agencies are closed!  I may be in temporary housing longer than I thought…

Stay tuned to my Instagram and Twitter (both @JustToJess) for updates from Rome.  I’ll continue updating the blog as well, once I get settled.  And, as always, feel free to contact me with your travel planning questions and itinerary requests - A presto!
